Welcome to the The Breakaway...
The much anticipated Blog has been severely delayed because our travels have been a true "breakaway" from any urgency to do this and more accurately we have had almost no Internet access. We have had intermittent connections but not in the evening or for long enough to finish this blog.
But... now that I am finally doing it.... We have been having a great time and have seen a lot of new and interesting things. Our plan has been to pretty much make a bee line to Iowa without exhausting ourselves. But we have traveled through some beautiful and interesting country. Take a look at some of the pictures. The first night we stayed in Caltaldo Idaho which was right on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. We had an easy but beautiful 20 mile bike ride . . This would be a super place to ride with families as the trail is paved and flat and beautiful. It winds along the Coeur d'Alene river and through many marshy areas with water lilies. Maggie didn't like our being gone and the neighbors said she whined quite a bit.
We entered Montana the next day and saw a beautiful part of Montana... stayed in an RV place that was quite nice. Everyplace we have stayed has been quiet and "just perfect".
The next day we made it to Livingstone Mt. and stayed at Makoshika State Park... never even heard of this absolutely super place. It is labeled the "Badlands of Montana" (the Badlands are in another state... do you know which one?) We rode our Mountain bikes up a steep (17%) grade for about 1/2 mile. I'll be honest and tell you I had to walk my bike part of the way but superpapa had no trouble.
On top we rode around to various view points. I'll attach a video and some pictures hopefully.
We traveled across North Dakota which was far more interesting and beautiful than we ever thought and stayed in a city park in Fargo. There we took Maggie for a surrey ride... she seemed to like it.
Today we are on our way as I write to see Aunt Lois in St.Paul.
We've had no major problems with the ArrVee... and so far Dave has been the only pilot and I have been relieved to be the navigator.
Great post! Sure seems like you are having a wonderful time... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Dave and Susan!
ReplyDeleteHow neat - fun to follow you on your journey, although I'm having a hard time knowing you're not right across the river. Don't get too used to having a wonderful time "flitting" all over the country.....
Miss you. Beth Moore study is very good. See you soon.
Love you - Terry and Cal
