Last day in Moab

The coming storm

We awakened to a mostly sunny day and decided to get in a bike ride and then decide whether to head out or stay another day. We took the paved trail to the Canyonlands turn off and decided to tackle the climb. I thought... No way... Not at this altitude (4500 ft.)but I surprised myself and Dave too. We made it up about about 6 miles and saw a storm moving in and made a bee line down the mountain. The winds came up and slowed us (me) considerably and we got caught in blowing dust then drenching rain. We huddled together with a couple of other cyclists behind a small sign, not that it did much good. It blew over pretty quickly and we headed on back. By the time we got back to our ArrVee the sun came out and we cleaned up our bikes, took a shower to get off all the red mud and congratulated ourselves om how resilient we are to ride 35 miles, weather a storm and make it home. It was very, very fun!!
